Sometimes players and families have questions about how weather is handled in soccer--since we play outdoors!
Severe weather (t-storms, tornado etc.)
-If the threat of severe weather is high, coaches should consider canceling practice. There are not shelters available at the high school, middle school, or Bach fields.
-We ask parents to STAY AT PRACTICE if a team does choose to practice and there is a chance of severe weather
Rain
Games are not canceled if it's raining. They can be canceled for lighting-that is the discretion of the referee
Heat
During practice players should have several water breaks. Coaches should consider decreasing demands and shortening or canceling practice if needed.
The club does have canopies if teams want to use them for games.
During games, the following "heat index" is the guideline (heat index is how the temperature feels versus the actual temperature):
Up to 89° No adjustments needed – normal time kept
90° to 99° Two-minute water breaks each half during running time. Each half should be shortened by five minutes
100° to 104° Two-minute water breaks each half during running time. Each half should be shortened by ten minutes
104° or above Play suspended
